Hmmmm. It’s no “Ways My Life Has Improved Since Losing 70+ Pounds” list…but it’ll do for now. (o:

There’s a good chance you’ll see that on Monday 🙂

Tyler! Thanks so much for posting this. I have been going through such a stretch of being bored with my gym music and really needed these suggestions. Sounds great.

Great list, we’ve got a lotta the same tastes. I’ve got a standard play list I run to. It’s amazing how some songs tend to pump you right back up.

Here are a few of my favs–
Lost Prophets: Shinobi vs Dragon Ninja
    Wolfmother: Woman
Faith No More: Out of Nowhere
    Ill Nino: What Comes Around

Check out Ill Nino they have a good energy for running/excercising. Also Otep if you want to hear a high energy, female metal singer.

I admit, the playlist I used to have, I’d throw in a comedy song to break up the “anger”. I had a few goofy ones like “I Can’t Wait To Be King” from Lion King, or the Hayseed Dixie version of “One” or just about any song from South Park.

Not only did it get me to laugh (to others, for no apparent reason), but even if I ended up skipping it to get to the next song, it provided a momentary distraction where I wasn’t staring at the countdown on the machine.

Another option which may be useful is to intentionally speed up your music. I have one album (Enigma’s “Love Sensuality Devotion” Remix) that I used the Chronotron plugin for WinAmp to speed up 25%. Sped up, not only is it a killer album (which would otherwise have me sleeping), but the timing worked out well too, taking the length down to just shy of my time on the elliptical.

Talking about all this reminds me that I need to get back to the gym. 😛

  6. Based on this you might like Du Hast – Rammestein, and 10,000 Fists – Disturbed

    Both uptempo and energetic.

  7. Tyler says:

Yeah, both of those are very good songs. I rotate them in and out of the playlist every month.

  8. Kate says:

Metallica is fantastic to work out to. I also do alot of punk/ska in addition to rock, because thats my thing. Anything with a beat.

  9. Tanya says:

Great playlist! I can’t believe I haven’t ever heard of more than half of these.

Most of these songs are going on my work out music playlist this month. You and I have the same tastes, Tyler! Thanks for these, my next work out is going to be that much better!

I love this playlist, I may have to steal some of those. I mostly listen to Distrubed, I have all their CD’s loaded, and I just put it on random. I mix it up with some Godsmack, Metallica, Cold, Fuel, Rob Zombie, Seether.

I’m really not an angry person, just tired, and it takes that kind of energy to keep me going on the elliptical.
