I need to update my running list. So sick of my music lately! 🙂

  2. Kyle says:

Godsmack – Cryin’ Like A Bitch is a kickass workout song! I also like Winner by Jamie Foxx, Justin Timberlake, and T.I.

  3. Matt says:

This has got to be your cardio list. What do you have for when you are lifting? You know, something that makes you put 10 more pounds on or crank out 3 more reps?

  4. R.H. says:

Very nice, Switchfoot and BreakingBenjamin and some of my favorites. I’m switching to a little bit more punk genre for my list: All Time Low, A Day to Remember, Mayday Parade. Some screamo for lifting. You’ve gotten me into adding in some hip-hop on my list, so thank you for that-it’s nice to change things up a little bit sometimes!

  5. Cubziz says:

I know my playlist is a lot faster paced than yours, but here’s a few of my suggestions:

Full Frontal – You Think You’re a Man
    Prodigy – Invaders Must Die
Wideband Network – Show Me Love
    KFMDM – Power
    Yuksek – Tonight
    Disturbed – Land of Confusion
Infected Mushroom – Smashing the Opponent
    Nine Inch Nails – Burn
    and of course
Aqua – Back to the 80s

  6. Anything by the System of the Down is okay by me. And, you need to add Under Pressure by Queen. Talk about the perfect workout song.

I’m weird in that I like a little Bob Marley as well. Say Anything is great, too.

  7. Carla says:

Woohooo, I am loving it! You have alot of songs that I have. One song that I suggest, is Marilyn Manson The Reflecting God. Its a great song to get angry to!

  8. Al says:

I’ve been ricking out to Van Halen (not Van Nagar), but I do need to add “Damn It Feels Good To Be A Gangsta” to my playlist. I love that song.

  9. Michelle says:

    Hey!!

I see you’re listening to Saliva.. was this from my previous suggestion on click click boom?!

  10. Bob says:

    Metallica – Fuel
Red Hot Chili Peppers – Higher Ground
    The Cult – Fire Woman
The Cult – She Sells Sanctuary

    Check’em out!

  11. Sean says:

Rise is from the into the wild soundtrack. Actually from the same soundtrack

    Gets me moving.

  12. Tyler says:

    You’re absolutely correct. Wonderful song.

  13. Tyler says:

I definitely need to leave my top-40 playlist and check out some of those bands.

  14. Tyler says:

It’s my everything list. Granted, I do fast forward and ditch the Lady Gaga and Live when I’m lifting.

  15. Matt says:

Once I started really concentrating on the lifting days of my week, I had to make a separate playlist. My playlist used to have a wide selection of Metallica, for example, but it would always be a bit of a downer during a set when One transitioned to Nothing Else Matters.

So my lifting playlist has things like:
Metallica – 01 That Was Just Your Life (Album Version).mp3
    Metallica – 03 Broken, Beat & Scarred (Album Version).mp3
Metallica – 04 The Day That Never Comes (Album Version).mp3
Metallica – 05 All Nightmare Long (Album Version).mp3
    Metallica – 2 X 4.mp3
    Metallica – Am I Evil-.mp3
    Metallica – Blitzkrieg.mp3
    Metallica – Creeping Death.mp3
Metallica – Die, Die My Darling.mp3
Metallica – For Whom the Bell Tolls.mp3
    Metallica – Frantic.mp3
Metallica – Hit The Lights (LP Version).mp3
    Metallica – I Disappear.mp3
    Metallica – Last Caress-Green Hell.mp3
    Metallica – Master of Puppets.mp3
    Metallica – One (Video Version).MP3
    Metallica – Prince Charming.mp3
    Metallica – So What.mp3
Metallica – Some Kind Of Monster.mp3
    Metallica – St. Anger.mp3
    Metallica – Stone Cold Crazy.mp3
Metallica – The Four Horsemen (LP Version).mp3
Metallica – The Frayed Ends of Sanity.mp3
    Metallica-Ain’t My Bitch.mp3
    Metallica-Battery.mp3
    Metallica-Blackened.mp3
    Metallica-Fuel.mp3

    and my cardio has:

Metallica – 07 The Unforgiven III (Album Version).mp3
    Metallica – Bleeding Me.mp3
    Metallica – Fade to Black.mp3
Metallica – Hero of the Day.mp3
    Metallica – Nothing Else Matters.mp3
    Metallica – The Unforgiven II.mp3
    Metallica – Tuesday’s Gone.mp3
    Metallica – Turn the Page.mp3
Metallica – Whiskey in the Jar.mp3

I find it makes a difference

  16. Jerry says:

So many songs, and they all change for what I am doing.

    Currently for lifting:

Rage Against The Machine – Battle of Los Angeles Album
    Rage – Evil Empire Album
Killswitch Engage – Fixation on the Darkness
    Metallica – Whole Black Album
    Metallica – Load Album
    Headbangers Ball Volume 2
    The Offspring (first two albums)
    Silverchair – fist album
The Rolling Stones – a mix

and for the treadmill or cardio:

The Grateful Dead. Pretty much have about 30gb. of old live stuff, and a mix of some Ben Harper, John Mayer and Jack Johnson.

I know – very contrasting between the two types of workout.

    =D Hope it’s been a great week Tyler – P.S. – I am at 299 now. Finally back under 300.

  17. Frank Dobner says:

Anything by Queen is great. I like “Ogre Battle”

  18. Jill says:

Surprised to see “Nothing Else Matters” by Metallica on there. What kind of exercise do you do when that song comes on?

“Cafe Mocha” by Jesse Cook is really great. It is mainly guitar with a great Latin sound; no words. I could listen to that song all day. It takes me to a great mental place. When we listen to it during spinning class, we envision riding bikes along the beach….. ahh. Makes me want to dance every time.

  20. lori says:

matt – I am digging your total Metallica playlist – and tyler, I always think yours rock – I think I shall work on updating mine as well.

  21. Michelle says:

Awesome! I listened to them back in high school during my angry days and still come back to them during times I need the anger/motivation =)

I do have a question for you..
Were you ever approached by your significant other and/or family friends to advise you to lose the weight? If so, how did they approach you? If not, how would you approach someone now that is in your position that you cared for?

  22. Matt says:

That was just a snippet of it to give an example of “lifting” music vs “cardio”. I like a lot of the songs on Tyler’s list, but I don’t know if I could lift to any of them. Glycerine, Californication, Lady GaGa?

Hell, if it’s going to be Bad Romance, at least grab the “metal” version by The Demonstration 🙂

(my cousin happens to be the drummer)

  23. Vinny says:

Tyler, no Pantera or DropKick Murphy’s? Shame on you LOL. Other than that, nice list.

  24. Yeah, I need to update my playlist bigtime. I currently have all 726 songs on my playlist. I guess I better get to it.

  25. Charlie Altman says:

Yes! COWBOY MOUTH! Another fan! I love working out to them.

Cowboy Mouth is my favorite band of all time to see live, please tell me you’ve seen them? They’re the only band I’ve seen all over the place, Asheville NC, Tulsa OK, St. Petersburg FL, up here in New York City…

Other than being a great pump up band, Fred is just so damn positive and can always make me feel better when I’m down.

You should add “Joe Strummer” off their album “Voodoo Shoppe”, great workout song.

  26. Bob says:

Not sure if you check out old blog posts, but here’s a song to check out for your playlist:

    Gavin Rossdale – Adrenaline

    Hit 199 tomorrow!
