  2. Good for you; that’s an excellent attitude. I was hoping you’d reach 199 this weigh-in, too, but it sure beats 343.

    I agree with steve, mine could be going faster but I’m still losing weight. I can’t wait to be under 200 lbs too 🙂 Keep up the good work tyler.

    I hav had some injuries, whihc has meant i have had to cut out cardio, and turn more to weights.
    Have you had injuries on your journey? if so what have you done to keep up the motivation?

    I was rooting for you!!! As far as my weight loss journey I am pretty happy! 20 lbs in 2 months, I know I can do better and I will do better but its not too bad with minimal exercise! My goal is to lose 80-100 in 6 months 4 more to go! I hope I can do it but any loss with will be greatly appreciated!

    P.S. I still think you will be under 199 by the wedding. Good luck!!!

    I had a pulled ligament in my left leg and tons of blisters for the first 1/2 months when I started. Other than that, thankfully, I’ve been free of injuries.

    After a week in Spain and Easter weekend I thankfully haven’t gained and now I’m going to go workout!

  14. Losing is still losing. Good job. I gained this week, and wasn’t sure what happened. But, after thinking about it (Easter, too many sweets, skipping JiuJitsu workouts)…no wonder I gained. I figure I’m just going to have those weeks sometimes.

    Great job on the loss. Enjoy the wedding (I’ll be at a wedding too…open bar…ugh).

    Now you could try and somehow push yourself working out and weigh yourself Saturday morning before you head to the wedding if you really want 199 but as they say in the weight loss game a loss, is a loss, is a loss. I started out at 450 lbs last May 17 th and now I’m at 334. I’ve hit a little bit of a plateau but I’m confident that I’ll get pass this and make it to my goal weight of 200, just like you. Have fun at the wedding!!!

    I like your attitude Tyler. Here are some things you won’t be doing while at the wedding:

    Feeling uncomfortable in a ginormous tuxedo.
    Sweating perfusely just because you’re sitting.
    Wiping your face with napkin because the sweat wont stop just because you’re sitting.
    Weighing 344 pounds.
    Being embarrassed of weight so not participating.
    Getting semi hugs because people can’t reach around you.
    People looking at you and wondering if there is enough food for everyone.

    You are my superhero. Take that to the wedding with you and enjoy getting the full reach around hugs and dancing on the dance floor with your wife and kids.

    Actually, you still have 3 days until the wedding, you could weigh 199 by Saturday if you stick to a strict diet for 3 days. Just run up and down the aisle at the rehearsal 🙂

    I’m pretty happy. I have lost 107 pounds since 01/01/10. Just a hair over 1 pound per day. I started at 398 and now weigh 291. I want to get down between 210 and 220. I think now is when the hard part starts. I know the last 1/2 is going to be tough.

    It’s the direction, not the number.

    For Tim: Injuries killed me the first time (dislocated knee, torn ACL) which is what led to me quitting exercise and active lifestyle. I tore ligaments in my ankle this past November. Rather than quitting exercise, I just changed my routine to what I could do. I missed the cardio and sweating off the calories, but staying committed to something and keeping exercise in my schedule resulted on me being on track when my injury did heal.

    I’ve only dropped 8 pounds since January 1, but guess what else has dropped – my blood pressure! You may not think you’re losing much, but the fringe benefits are an added bonus.

    I gained last week, but I’m hoping to lose it this week when I weigh on Saturday. I started in January, and haven’t lost much weight, mostly due to midterm stress. But I’ve been lifting weights just as much as I’ve been doing cardio, so people are telling me that I’m starting to get more toned. Still have 45 to go before I get to 200, but I’m pushing myself hard to reach that by August 6 when I go back to school.

    By the way, even though you didn’t make it under 200, you still did well this week. Just over a pound is still a huge accomplishment and you will be able to enjoy the wedding so much more without the excess weight. Thanks for being an awesome inspiration!

    I just found your blog a few days ago. I’m beginning my weight loss journey again and aiming for success this time! I need to lose some serious weight although to be honest I’m not sure how much. Your blog has been inspiring, and I’ve appreciated the tools at http://www.sparkpeople.com. Congrats with the huge weight loss. I’ll be tuning in to watch you hit 199. I personally haven’t been there since I was about 15-well, just once. 🙂

    I’m not happy. I keep hovering in the same place because when I hit a stride I suddenly also hit an eating stride. 🙁 🙁 Here’s to being strict for at least a day.

    I’ve lost 1.2 pounds in the last week and 142.4 pounds in 63 weeks.

    lets just put it in to perspective i weight about 145 pounds. you’ve essentially carved ME off you in the last year or so! Don’t be too down about being a few pounds over your target weight, it’s AMAZING what you’ve done. As you say the direction is important and the fact it’s still coming off is the important thing.
    Weight is not the be all and end all. if you feel better/healthier and are happy with the effect in the mirror that is a HUGE win no matter what the scale says!

    I go to the gym every day (missed 6 days since 01/01/10) for about 1.5 hours a day, and I count calories. I have found that you have to be consistent and you have to “want” to do it. For me, it has to be important and a priority, or I just won’t do it. That’s how I got to 400 lbs. I do a lot of what Tyler did to lose his weight. I guess one difference in our action plans is that I really do eat very healthy just about every meal. I rarely eat unhealthy anymore. Now understand, that does not mean that I won’t ever eat that way again. I will. I will have a burger and fries or pizza, but for me, it will be more of an exception. Not in moderation. That’s what will work for me. Other’s, like Tyler, may be able incorporate that type of food in more moederation. I just don’t think that’s an option for me. At least not while I am trying to lose vs maintain. The difference is that now, I am willing to do the work to get the extra fat and calories off. Right now, I don’t have balance. Once I get to my goal weight range, I hope to be able to find the balance and maintain, rather than work by butt off everyday to lose. That will be the hardest part of the journey, I’m sure.

    I agree with everyone, I think you could be 199 by Saturday. Even if youre not, the simple truth is you had a goal and worked toward it. Thats more than a lot of people can say. Moreover, youre not a weeping bowl of self-pity when you have to work a little longer to reach that goal. You are resilient.
    The wedding will be a blast.

    stuck. I hit right at 300 and haven’t budged this week. Last week I lost 5lbs. and this week nothing so far. I wanted to be below 300 this weekend – but looks like I am going to have to wait for that. Soon though.

    Tyler – you are an inspiration. A friend and I just started a competition (Biggest Loser style – % lost – with a one hour spa massage at stake) to get a jump start on our weight loss. So far she’s ahead of me – but I think of your attitude and remember to keep my head in the game and not let a bad week get me down. I really appreciate your take on weight loss – not cutting out the foods you love. My friend and I are well on our way to eating healthier, more appropriate portions, and still the foods we love on occasion – as well as incorporating exercise (mostly walking) into our daily routines. Again – thank you so much for the inspiration….

    You and I Tyler. I am still dancing with 200 pounds too. I think that 200 pounds is like an asymptotic approach for me. I’ll change that soon, but until then let’s keep working at it.

    You didn’t make 199 but your still doing good. I’m at 218 myself and slowly moving down to my goal weight of 190. I’m pretty happy at the pace I’m going. 🙂

    I think the last pounds take more to get them off. Maybe it’s just more patience, but more. XD
