Hey Tyler, you might want to edit your post. You put that you had a -5 result this week, and I was all set to congratulate you on a big loss for the week, but later in your post you said you gained. So yeah, might want to fix that 🙂

  3. Tyler says:

Thanks, that minus sign should definitely be a plus. One can wish it was reversed, though!

To make my life better, I’m getting up at the crack ass of dawn and heading to the gym. I’m sore, I’m cranky and I’m still trying to catch my breath from last night’s boot camp.

Then I’m going to spend the day looking at people directly in their eyes when they talk to me. I’m going to let them know I’m listening. No matter what they say to me, it’s important enough to them so it’s going to be important enough to me.

My Labor Day weekend resulted in a gain as well, but thats because I was at the National Buffalo Wing Festival, and it was totally worth it!

Working on making my life better right now, but I’m always willing to lend a hand to someone else 🙂

Further to your post and several comments on websites that help a few weeks back – I have really been trying to use logyourrun.com, I chose a training program which automatically appears on my calendar and somehow, miraculously seems to work for me thus far- I haven’t missed a workout once, though one did get shifted a day as I had a cold and a fever so I took my rest day one day earlier and did that day’s workout the next day instead of resting.

I think that all of the posts and comments have helped to keep me motivated to do something- anything- my dietary intake is still not the best but I am getting off of my butt and moving- even if just for a while, everyday- today – just before my lunch break the rain let up so I went for a walk- check half marathon training done for the day!

  7. Tyler says:

What time do you head to the gym in the morning?

That’s a good way to spend the day. Often times I’m so busy or simply disinterested I don’t look someone in the eye when they’re talking to me. It’s a very bad habit.

I was at Buffalo Wild Wings last Thursday (USC game), so we had a lot in common the last few days!

  9. Tyler says:

Kudos on you for not missing a workout. It’s that kind of passion that will keep you going for years, just be careful not to burn out!

Do you think you are really gaining 5lbs in a week or is it mostly salt/water weight and or being a bit bloated? Seems doubtful you ate 17k extra calories in a week. Seems like the calipers were a good purchase, have they been easy to use?

    Keep up the awesome work!

  11. Hey, Tyler, I’ve had some weeks like that myself. I think it shows (at least I think it shows) how mental this process is. It’s so easy for me to get into the old habits of overeating and then have a week of weight gain.

You’re doing fantastic though, so here’s to you hitting your goal!

I’m so glad that I came across your blog. It’s good to see another person who finds it important to stay fit and healthy. I have lost over 125 lbs. myself and will be featured in the November 2010 issue of Shape magazine. This is VERY exciting for me! Anyway, my blog is located at http://www.LauraGetsFit.com if you’d like to check it out. I added your blog to follow, so feel free to follow mine as well. I look forward to reading more of your journey. Take care! <3 Laura

  13. Tyler says:

It’s just water weight. Most of it should be gone by next week. And yeah, the calipers are really easy to use!

  14. Sean Nelson says:

I’ve been having some issues in my homelife that have caused some turmoil in the last couple weeks. The only weight-loss has been stress related, and I’ve been skipping on exercise and eating properly. So… I suppose todays goal will be to stop feeling sorry for myself for at least the day and get on an elliptical.

  15. Tyler says:

You’re right, it’s very mental. I didn’t really plan on subduing myself much on vacation, so the weight gain is fine with me. I know I will still hit my goal.

  16. Tyler says:

    Thanks, Laura. Nice blog.

  17. Tyler says:

I’m sorry to hear that, Sean. I hope whatever you’re going through works itself out soon enough and you can get back to a regular schedule. Sometimes life does happen, as it did when my dad died and I became a father, and there’s nothing you can do to stop it.

Just know that when it’s all over with or settled down a little, you WILL get back on track.

I joined your facebook community! YEA!!!!

Thanks for the inspiration! you are totally right- there is a long stretch of time here where we have the chance to make some serious progress without having to worry about holidays or breaks. I just need to get back on track after all the craziness of the past few weeks.

And I just wanted to add that you are looking good, my brother! You can really see the change in your back and stomach- you were so right. The weight workouts are taking care of the loose skin much better than surgery would have.

You are a constant inspiration- thank you!
