Find Passionate, Fun Ways to Burn Calories
I love my gym, and I love the concept of gyms, but I’m no gym rat.
While I highly recommend finding and joining a local gym, I also recommend finding ways to burn calories outside of the gym as well. We’re not robots. We need more than elliptical machines and treadmills in air-conditioned cardio rooms to burn calories.
We’re so sedentary that when we decide to start moving it’s the same, boring motions.
Get dirty. Clean your house today and donate things you don’t use anymore to a charity. Join a local sports team. Make your own local sports team. Dance with your children, spouse, or friends, even if it’s just in your living room. Take part of a local class at your gym. Take Karate lessons, regardless of your age. Wash your car and make your Corolla look like a Camry. Run a race for charity. Plant a garden. Plant a tree. Fool around with someone you love. Build something. Cut on some music really loud and just punch the air, hopping around your kitchen like it’s a boxing ring — pretend you’re Rocky Balboa.
I’ll always enjoy the gym, but being Rocky Balboa is a lot more fun.
Find something that you’re passionate about doing to burn calories. Don’t stop going to the gym, but just moderate your trips, just like you do with your food.
