Burn Calories by Joining a Class at the Gym
I’ve never done spin class before. That will change Friday morning at 5:30.
I’ve always wanted to try spin class (or just spin, as the kids call it). I’ve heard it’s an extremely intense, physical, hour-long ultra calorie burning session. It obviously depends on your height/weight etc, but I’ve heard people burning anywhere from 750-1,250+ calories in a single hour of work. That sounds like the kind of activity for me.
I’ve been following the same workout routine for nearly a year, afraid to change it and try something different. While I think routines are important on a daily basis, I also think it’s good to change things up every once in a while. It’s easy to fall in line and keep rolling with the punches, never stepping outside of the box. I think classes and group sessions at the gym are a good way to do just that, as not only do instructors keep the routines fresh, but they, along with the other folks in the class/session, push you to do better.
For the last ten months, I’ve worked out Monday through Friday doing the same old thing, weights every day with the exception of Wednesday, which was reserved for cardio. While I’ve pushed myself to work hard every day (well, at least most days), with the exception of Body Pump, the only other class I’ve taken, I haven’t let anybody push me.
Friday morning, I will. I plan on pushing back, too.
