Seeing Weight Loss Click for Somebody Else
I took the family to get ice cream last night. Conveniently located, we went to the Marble Slam located directly beside my gym on Forest Drive. I got cookies and cream, as always.
As I was in a race with the ice cream to stop it from dripping down my waffle cone, I overheard a conversation about calories. A lady, probably in her late 40s or early 50s, was venting to a couple of other ladies sitting at the table with her. One was around her age, probably a sister, and the other was quite a few years younger than both of them, I assumed probably either a daughter or a niece.
The lady in question was venting about all of the failed weight loss attempts she’s went through. She had tried low carb diets, but had lacked energy and didn’t find it realistic. She also tried The South Beach Diet and points with Weight Watchers, but again, she said she didn’t find them very realistic and stopped after a few days.
She was going to try something “new” she just heard about: counting calories.
I love these moments. I love it when I can actually see and hear other people making the same breakthroughs that I did over two years ago today. From listening to this brief conversation, it seems she had tried everything before and was simply fed up.
But, she was still willing to give “something else” a chance, just like I was.
If you’re frustrated and on the fence, I hope you’ll give something else a chance. I don’t care how your weight loss journey is going, whether it’s been interrupted by vacations, summer break, a change in jobs, whatever. Find a weight loss calculator, determine how many calories you need a day, and start losing weight again today.
Start counting calories, start burning calories, and stop making excuses.
