How Do I Stay Motivated to Lose Weight?
A blog post in the form of a question. Get used to them. Questions I get e-mailed on a regular basis will be showing up here more often.
You stay motivated by losing weight by always keeping your eyes on the prize. Losing weight, building muscles, etc, are objectives that require constant attention.
Figure out why you’re losing weight. Make a list. Want to live longer? Want to look better at the beach? How ’bout naked? Need to fit into airline and restaurant seats? I don’t know your reasons, only you do — I can’t give them to you. Once you have your reasons, write them everywhere. Tell everyone about them. Let them know that they’re yours to accomplish them in the next 3, 6, 12 months.
Then, accomplish them.
You stay motivated by living a lifestyle that is focused around your goals. You don’t lose weight as an afterthought. It’s something you do every single day. You go to the gym without fail every morning, afternoon, or night.
I know you might be tired, but that’s not an excuse. Get your ass in the gym. I know you might be too tired to cook and fast food might be tempting. It’s fine every once in a while, but you don’t need it every night. It has too many calories. You need to watch your calories and don’t go over your daily allowance 6 out of 7 days during the week.
And when you do go over your calories, you need to remember that you’re not a glutteon. It’s fine to enjoy some good ole’ hearty food, but it’s another thing entirely to hit the line at the buffet and eat like you’ll never eat again.
Stay motivated to lose weight by letting your goals and dreams consume you and take priority. Don’t neglect work, family, or any of your responsibilities of course, but make sure reaching your goals is always on your mind.
Live your dreams and don’t make them an afterthought.
