Progress Pictures + Calories for Week 159
I’ve counted calories since January 2009. And while counting calories (the food you eat) is the most important part of losing weight, it’s also important to burn calories. I’ve never actively kept an eye on the calories I’ve burnt until this week.
That leads me to the new format of these weekly
Wednesday Friday updates.
Weekly Calories tracked with a BodyMedia CORE Armband:
(Can’t view the image above? Click here to view it directly.)
Today’s Weight: 217 pounds, +14 pounds since Feb 29 (127.2 pounds lost)
Average daily calories burned the last 7 days: 3,139
Average daily calories consumed the last 7 days: 2,345
Average daily calorie deficit: 904 calories
Calories, calories, and calories. I’m back to my roots. I feel right at home.
I purchased the monthly subscription ($6.95) for the CORE Armband, which is where that pretty graphic you see above came from. You’ll see this graphic every Friday with a breakdown of my weekly calories. This is the same information that is available to everyone that owns/subscribes to the Armband. I’ll post a much more in-depth review of all of it later, but just know the Armband is basically this (very) light armband you wear all day. It tracks the calories you burn by the minute (it’s very accurate from what I can tell), steps taken during the day, intense physical activity, monitors your sleep, etc.
All of this information shows up on BodyMedia’s website (and my iPhone) in the simple layout you see above. You can also pinpoint when during the day you exerted the most calories. It’s interesting to look at my calorie exertition over the day and see how many calories I burned playing basketball, sitting around the house, cleaning, cooking, etc.
Anyway, highly recommended. But more on all of that at another time.
I’m extremely committed to losing the weight I’ve regained over the last couple of months and am taking the steps to do so. It’s a little embarrassing to have gained so much weight, but I’m not interested in throwing a pity party. I just want to get back to work and get things moving again. I’m still using MyFitnessPal to count calories. In conjunction with watching the calories I burn with the Fit Armband, I’m tightening the belt on my efforts.
Hopefully, I’ll be doing the same to my pants over the next few weeks.
