Diet is a Dirty Word
I don’t like the word diet.
Sure, diet can refer to the food someone eats on a daily basis to make up their meals, but in the context of trying to lose weight most people associate the word diet with extreme food limitations, a crash diet, short-term punishment, etc.
You can’t lose weight by going on a diet — that’s how you lose your mind.
We’ve got to stop using the “d” word. Weight loss isn’t a short-term scheme or plan, it’s something you focus on for the rest of your life. Most of the time we’re hopefully concentrating on limiting the food we eat and staying physically active, while others, like maybe on Memorial Day, we lose focus and let go a little bit.
That’s okay, though. Losing weight and keeping it off is a lifestyle, not a diet.
