Weight Loss + Physical Activity for Week 172
I think it’s time to give Fitbit some time to shine today.
The Fitbit displays activity and other statistics a little differently than BodyMedia. It’s not better or worse, but it’s different, so the information I provide will be in a different format today (and if I continue using Fitbit).
The first change is that Fitbit doesn’t display daily averages. It displays activity either for a day (you can select to see your physical activity for Monday, Tuesday, etc) or by week or month (accumulative, not averaged by day for you).
Today’s weight: 212.0 pounds
Weight lost or gained since last Friday: 0.4 pound(s) lost
Total weight loss since January 2009: 132.2 pounds
Just to give you an idea of a daily average, I took a snapshot of last Monday:
Steps taken: 10,702 steps taken
Floors climbed: 7 floors climbed
Miles traveled: 5.09 miles traveled
Calories burned: 2,881 calories
Calories consumed: 2,150 calories
Total calorie deficit: 731 calories
The above snapshot/data is a very small selection of the information actually available in my Fitbit Dashboard. I can also see how long I slept, quality of sleep, calories consumed, length of physical activity, etc.
While it was important to explain the change in data since I’m using Fitbit’s stats today, I’ll hold off on a more in-depth review between BodyMedia’s FIT Core Armband and Fitbit until next week. For now, let’s discuss last week.
Last week can be summed up into this: I need more cardio.
I use basketball as my cardio and while it’s great cardio, it’s also prone to being interrupted by rain. It’s stormed a lot here in the south the last week and it’s put a limit on the calories I’ve been able to burn every day after work.
So, there are two things I need to do next week:
– Find ways to burn cardio (at home) inside when basketball isn’t an option.
– Stay on the court a little longer when I do get the chance to play.
I need to step up my game a little bit.
